It&#8217;s the most basic kind of map and learning how to use maps can be very useful for 3D modeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I start with a basic graphic and convert it to a png file with a transparent background<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"848\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/robertjeffery.us\/tuttofattoamano\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/04\/2021-04-18-small.png?resize=848%2C512&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-904\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The I create the displacement map and give it some blur to soften the transition from low to high.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"831\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/robertjeffery.us\/tuttofattoamano\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/04\/2021-04-18-1.png?resize=831%2C512&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-905\" \/><figcaption><em>Blur the graphic to give a softer transition<\/em> <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Then I change the material type to give it the rubberized effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"937\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/robertjeffery.us\/tuttofattoamano\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/04\/2021-04-18-2.jpg?resize=937%2C512&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-906\" \/><figcaption><em>Change the graphic material type, roughness and reflection intensity to give a rubberized effect<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally I adjust the V-Ray lights to give a rim lighting effect which will highlight the sleeve.  Clo3D&#8217;s V-Ray lights can be adjusted to work just like studio softboxes to give a lot of control over your image. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"956\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/robertjeffery.us\/tuttofattoamano\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/04\/2021-04-18-3.png?resize=956%2C512&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-907\" \/><figcaption><em>Rim lighting is a studio photography technique to give separation between a dark subject and a dark background.
